Our values
Hospitality figure
Our values are inspired by the hospitality and care shown by Saint Bernard of the Alps, the Patron Saint of Alpinists and mountains inhabitatns. In year 1050, Bernard established a hospice and hostel 8,000 feet up in the mountains to care for travelers and the poor, offering them shelter and protection. His legacy of hospitality continued with the canons who lived at the hospice.
Swiss touch
Later cannons were joined by Swiss St. Bernard dogs, which helped rescue people trapped in harsh weather. The hospice offered food, clothing, and shelter to travelers. Our approach to hospitality at the Higher Hospitality Academy of Switzerland is also guided by Bernard's values.
Higher values
Just as he, and later his canons used dogs and other instruments to improve the care and safety of travelers, we use information and processes to enhance the efficiency of modern hospitality across all industries. This blend of tradition and innovation is at the core of our scientific approach to hospitality.
Founder
Mario Saba (PhD), founder of the Higher Hospitality Academy of Switzerland, is an Associate Professor of Information Systems (IS). He teaches in the IS and Hospitality fields at leading institutions across Switzerland, Europe, and the USA. With extensive leadership experience, he designs and delivers professional training programs for executives. He specializes in systemic interactions often overlooked by traditional management training approaches. He leads projects and provides advisory services across various industries. Dr. Saba's research focuses on Human-Centric Artificial Intelligence, innovative applications of IS technology, and decision-making tools. He publishes his findings in international peer-reviewed journals. Mario Saba holds a Ph.D. in Management Science - Information Systems, two master’s degrees in marketing and hospitality management, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education.
